• I’m Nate Richardson, an artist based in northern Michigan.

Years ago I started making art to slow down and better understand the world through deliberate observation and hands-on creation. I subsequently started The Littoralist to collect and share my art.

I’m continuously fascinated by the process of making things, discovering what will inspire me next and learning about what inspires others. Please enjoy the galleries and blog posts and make sure to check out the shop for beautiful prints and original artwork.

Drop me a line if you have an idea for a commissioned project or just to say hello. Thanks again for stopping by!

In case you’re wondering about the name (the littoralist), it’s based on a scientific term called the “littoral zone”— the transitional area between uplands and open water. Here in Michigan that seems like just about everywhere so I thought it fitting!
